Write a function rule for the area of a rectangle whose length is 4in. More than it’s width. What is the area of the rectangle when it’s width is 8in?

L=4+W

A=(4+w) (w)

Then substitute 8 in for w

A(8)=(4+8) (8)=(12(8)

                       =96
