Friedrich Engels assisted in the writing of the Communist Manifesto with Karl Marx.
Being from a wealthy family, Engels was going against his family's values in promoting communism. His father owned a textile factory and would have believed in capitalism. Engels promoted workers' rights, strikes, and distribution of wealth.
