This would probably have little to no effect in reducing crime rates.

I believe that erasing records would actually increase crime rates as law enforcement wouldn’t know if it was their first time commuting a crime or not. Also if it is erased, people will think that all the crimes they commit will just disappear, meaning no consequences.
