generally speaking, i know that the romance languages (french, italian, etc) developed from latin, and languages all influence one another because of cultural exchange. so knowing latin and greek prefixes and roots will give you more of an idea in regards to context clues and inferring what an unfamiliar word means and you'll be generally more comprehensive with language because greek and latin are commonly referenced
