The role for primary consumer is at the bottom of the food chain since it only eats plants and not animals. Primary consumers eat the plants for food. Therefore, they are herbivores.
Examples of primary consumers: insects, ants, sheep, cows, and deer.
The role for secondary consumers is at the middle of the food chain, they are usually carnivores and eat other animals for food.
Examples of secondary consumers: lions, tigers, snakes, and bears
