The issue of slavery divided the country due to the bias and the disagreement people had. Northern whites wanted to make Texas a slave state causing Mexico to become furious. The that caused the Whites forcing Mexicans into New Mexico but many had worries about not having there freedom and rights that they had before. Due to this chaos the U.S declared war which was called The Civil War.
