The issue with the annexation of Texas to the US was slavery. Citizens were mostly in favor of the annexation but the political leaders didn’t. Political leaders thought that dealing with slavery practices would bring controversy, they also feared a war between the US and Mexico because of the annexation of Mexican’s lost territory.
