If a recipe needs [tex] \frac{5}{4} [/tex] cups of sugar, and you are going to triple the recipe, you'd have to multiple that amount by 3. So basically :

[tex] \frac{5}{4} [/tex] × [tex] \frac{3}{1} [/tex] is [tex] \frac{15}{4} [/tex]. That's the answer in fraction form, at least. In number form, the answer would be 3.75. Once this number is converted into fraction form once again. it would be [tex]3 \frac{3}{4} [/tex]
