After World War II Australia witnessed a big migration wave towards it's territory. The majority of this immigrants, or about 40 percent of the total number, were from Britain and Ireland. In the period between 1945 and 1985 about 4.2 million people migrated to Australia, which considering the total population of the country in 1945 of 7 million people before the migration, the number of people that moved in is a number that is around 60 percent of the total population of what the country had before it.
